The torah scroll covers at Community Synagogue Sands Point are handmade, and are a magnificent work of modern art. As you can see in the above bat mitzvah portrait, when they are in the ark set in order, side by side, all of the individual designs combine together and form a tree of life.
When I am taking portraits inside the main sanctuary at Community Synagogue Sands Point, I always include photos with this gorgeous tree of life in the background.
When I posed this mother and daughter, the mom gave her a quick hug. And that warmth radiates through the photo. I know just how special this photo is to the mother. I also know one day this photo will become priceless to the daughter. My guiding light as as a photographer is I am doing this for future generations of your family.
